instinctive // brusque // fiercely independent // hotheaded // uncomplicated
While aloof and standoffish on the outside, it’s evident that it’s a wall K’naji put up in response to his prickly upbringing. He has always had an independent streak, but is more receptive to strangers now that he’s struck out on his own. He’s hotheaded and impulsive, performing better on the fly and is not calculating in thought or action. In the heat of the moment, he is prone to tripping over his emotions and so prefers to rely on his instincts instead.He is very straightforward, painfully literal and has an inability to read between the lines. However he is not gullible or easily tricked, as his gut instinct makes up for his lack of perception. He can’t always put his finger on what he might find fishy, but will be wary enough to tread around it. His literal nature also extends to him being nothing but genuine with people, albeit with the tact and subtlety of a charging aurochs.When among his friends, K’naji’s deeper traits begin to surface. At times while he can be impatient, he will put in the hard work if he can see the benefit of taking it slow. A fiery tenacity drives his actions, whether it be out of enthusiasm or spite. As a simple person with simple needs, he is fairly easy to please. Whether it be showering friends in spoils from the hunt or going adventuring together, he finds joy in the little things.
// combat style.
K’naji is most at home fighting bare-handed, taking advantage of his sense of balance, size and speed. He utilises all of his limbs for consecutive strikes that are fuelled by his momentum, and deflection techniques against opponents larger than him.He favours using lightning aspected aether, promoting agility and manifesting as flashing strikes and electrical discharge. Some of these techniques stem from his tribe's traditional fighting style.A skilled hunter from young, he uses self-made shortbows to snipe marks from nearby. He utilises arrows tipped in poison derived from local desert flora and fauna.

Illiterate, but slowly learning.
Can’t understand subtext or sarcasm.
Fluent in Eorzean and Huntspeak.
Generally keeps his nose out of trouble as he knows he doesn't have the charisma to get himself out of it.
Has three pets - a chocobo, hunting hawk and a dodo hatchling.
Infrequently sells accessories he’s fashioned out of beastkin teeth and leather.
His usage of lightning aspected aether is how he arrived at Thunderstrike, the epithet he gave himself. He’s stupidly proud of it.
// storytime.
Hard times had befallen many after the Calamity, and such was the case for a young K’naji travelling the deserts of Thanalan. His nomadic tribe had to quickly adapt to their permanently altered ecosystem, now unable to fully rely on years of knowledge of where to find food or water. Growing aggression and conflicts among roaming Amalj’aa groups also added to their troubles.The youth of the tribe were hit the hardest, now having to step up to meet new expectations. Hunting expeditions became less fruitful while scouting and tribe defences had to be bolstered. With the constantly competitive environment, K’naji’s ability to keep up was slowly outshadowed by his half-siblings despite his aptitude for tribal activities. This gap never seemed to close and eventually the elders were playing favourites against him.When K’naji came of age a few years later he wasted no time challenging his nunh, in hopes that the title would let him command some respect. Yet his own inexperience and emotions held him down. He left the tribe unceremoniously, his many failed attempts only solidifying his perceived uselessness and absence. A merchant’s caravan had passed by one night, and he took his chance to find somewhere else to get stronger.

After a few stopovers and long nights of thinking, the caravan dropped him off in Ul’dah. He spent his first moon in between Pearl Lane and his destination - the Pugilist’s Guild. There, he became a student under a certain monk, who also suggested he use his own skills outside of martial arts to make a living.His talent and wares for the hunt did not go unnoticed by the local merchants, and soon found his place as a hunter for hire. With space to breathe, K’naji was able to shine on his own terms, unhindered by familial pressures.These days his goal of returning home seems to have taken less of a priority. Whatever the reasons, K’naji is not readily willing to admit he much prefers the life he has made for himself.

" After splitting from the main tribe, a small group of K tribe Seekers travelled from their hunting grounds in Gyr Abania to look for a territory to call their own. They journeyed into Eorzea, pushing through and past the Black Shroud to Thanalan, after local Keeper tribes chased them out. Wandering the vast sands, they looked for a place to put down roots.Today, their descendants are a nomadic tribe that roam East and South Thanalan, following the migration patterns of desert beastkin. Uniquely, they have wider ears than the typical miqo’te and have dark tufts at their tips like a caracal. They have encountered and endured through a myriad of hardships out in the deep desert, from dealing with the Amalj’aa and Ifrit-tempered, to the Corpse Brigade and exiled prisoners from Ul’dah.In the wake of the Calamity, wildlife and environmental changes forced the tribe to pursue more interactions with outsiders in order to survive. While still relatively self-sustaining, merchants know them to offer materials from the deep desert that have since become scarce, in exchange for basic goods. "
Sorry, I am not open for RP! This is just a profile Carrd for my character, and thank you for reading if you made it this far. It's still missing a few things, but the core pieces are here! Any illustrations featured are my own, unless stated otherwise.You can call me Kishi. My timezone is GMT+9/10, or AEST. I love playing MNK and GNB! Will snag Final Heaven whenever I can. I'm an artist/animator when I'm not hanging around Eorzea.

" From exotic meats for the next banquet of Ul’dah’s elite, to desert herbs for local apothecaries, Sosola Sola can procure them for her vast array of clients. That is, provided they have a barter of interest to the skilled hunter who does all the work. He specialises in game hunting and will be glad to take on jobs that send him outside of Thanalan, provided the excess fees of travel are covered.To an outsider, it may seem like her cut of these deals are incredibly exploitative, but her hunter is never less than genuinely happy with his payment. "
qiko // draught chocobo // hunting partner
" She was procured by the merchant Sosola, after the horrifying realisation the hunter working for her was literally dragging his quarry back to Ul'dah by himself.
She is rarely seen without a wagon, carrying camping and hunting supplies across the desert. She makes a sturdy back from which the hunter may shoot arrows from, and has proven to be formidable backup for larger marks.
'Qiko' (KEE-ko) means 'kweh' in the Huntspeak dialect of a local Seeker of the Sun tribe."
nameless fledgeling dodo // delayed meal (?)
" The hunter delivered one less dodo egg to a Lominsan client that day, and gained himself a newly imprinted, future meal on legs as a bonus. With such intentions for it, he did not name the creature to ensure his heart did not grow fond of it. However...
His peers wonder if he still insists on eating it eventually, but the fledgeling dodo, to this day has remained hearty, hale, and most definitely not on a dinner plate."
aanjur // hunting hawk // game chaser
" The hunter's silhouette is incomplete without the shape of a hawk upon his shoulder. The cloudkin was purchased in Ul'dah for a pretty ponze of gil, but he is an invaluable hunting partner for chasing and cornering smaller game like shrews and mandragora.
When his master is occupied, he is left to his own devices, demonstrating a strong bond with the hunter and in turn strong trust for the cloudkin. He will catch his own prey in the vicinity and return."
" A unique tradition that is still practiced by the K today is the Dawn Hunt, a coming-of-age ritual where children of around three and ten summers are sent into the wild to take their first solo mark. The child then crafts a trinket, usually jewellery, from the bones and both are then blessed with protection under Azeyma's watchful eye.It is said that many older pieces contain vast amounts of aether absorbed from their wearers over the course of their lives. They also serve as tokens of their dead."

" The K have a traditional style of martial art that blends together the use of hand-to-hand combat and aether manipulation. While comparisons may be drawn with other documented forms of combat, this particular style remains unique to them.Its name, ae'qihahn (AY-kee-han), is not easily translated into the common tongue, as it embodies the concept of allowing the world to harmonise and flow through oneself. However some scholars do opt for its alternative, more descriptive name, kinfist.The K believe certain areas of Thanalan awaken power, and will send their youth to camp and hunt strong marks there in hopes of strengthening them. It is not unlike the methods once used by the old Fist of Rhalgr, or even modern thaumaturges to awaken their aether. Often these were sites of old territory contests between the Amalj’aa, Ul’dah and Belah’dia, or resting places of grand beasts slain in times past.They also learned how to shape this aether by observing how magic was used by their quarry in the wild, similarly to the art of Blue Magic. While techniques can be taught, one would sooner grasp it by learning directly from nature. With changes in the environment brought on by the Calamity however, fauna died out, adapted and twisted, forever altering the path of practitioners for generations to come.With such direct harnessing of aether, the bodies of practitioners are often marred by their favoured element. It is a common side effect, making it possible to identify one’s aetheric techniques from physical indicators alone. A particularly obvious example can be found in users of lightning aether, who possess scars that look eerily like levinbolts. "

// azeyma the dancing sun,
goddess of truth & blesser of bones.
" Bones are considered sacred to the hunt goddess Azeyma, being the only thing that survives decay under the desert sun. As such the K are not wont to discard the remains of beastkin, turning them into tools, jewellery and even fortune telling relics.
This also applies to their deceased, cremated by holy fire before their ashes are scattered across the sands. "
// nald'thal the child of cycles,
of day and night, friend to the dead.
" A well known folktale tells of a mother and daughter lost in the desert, who cross paths with twin miqo’te boys. They are granted succor and company by the fireside, but the mother disappears the next morning - the one who prompted the arrival of the god of death in the first place.
Other stories say Nald'thal appear as old men, suggesting they too follow mortal cycles."
// oschon the trueshot,
god of endeavours, the nowhere-bound.
" After being kicked out of home by Rhalgr, Oschon found he had nowhere he belonged - and so he set a course for nowhere in particular. He is envisioned as a spry, older miqo’te hunter with a bow that never misses its mark. Often called to bless new beginnings and new adventures, he makes for an ideal patron to those who leave the tribe for a life of their own."
// menphina the singing moon,
goddess of secrets & keeper of the hearth.
"Unusually, the K give minor reverence to the Moon as well. She waits at the hearth for her lover Oschon with her heterochromic eyes, though after the fall of Dalamud she has become a scorned lover instead. Her remaining eye shines down upon the earth every night to look for him.
She is a guide for things hidden from Azeyma’s light and of the dead, and the grace with which secrets should be given."
" The K sometimes speak of a Tia who left years ago under strained circumstances. While this may sound like a common story behind why a miqo'te would choose to do so, the aforementioned Tia is sometimes spotted still sharing his tribe's travel routes. Despite being aware of each others' presence they do not interact, and he remains estranged from the tribe to the present day.As he is always seen alone, it is little surprise he was given such an epithet. As long as he doesn't do anything that significantly encroaches on the tribe's territory and spoils, they will continue to leave him to his own devices. "
